Our family business has been operating from the Wood Lane Nursery in Timperley Cheshire, since 1948. Brian Crosby’s father Arthur started the business in 1939, retiring in 1979. Brian’s sons Nigel and Martin both trained at Pershore College before joining him in the business in the 1980’s.

The nursery business has evolved considerably in recent years and we have placed great emphasis on gaining a very clear understanding of our target customer requirements. We have developing our nursery to meet the quality and service expectations of our customers, a policy which seems to be appreciated by them as we develop and strengthen our partnerships.

Please see Our Quality and Our Service pages for details.

We have supplied a number of Garden Festival sites and in 1993 we were a co-ordinator of the Floral Flame at Manchester Airport as part of the Olympic bid.

We were also the sole British company selected to supply bedding plants to Euro Disney in Paris in 1992.

Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
We supplied the hanging baskets to Old Trafford cricket ground for Summer 2005. The baskets’ contents included Geraniums, Surfinia Petunia, Bidens, Bacopa and Lobelia. During the epic third Ashes test with Australia the cameras zoomed in on the display and the commentator attempted to name the flowers – getting only Geraniums right – but full credit to him for trying!

We also supply hanging baskets to Dukes 92 pub and the Castlefield Hotel in the Castlefield basin, Manchester.

Manchester airport is a prominent customer for baskets, containers and plants.

Crosby’s management play an active role in the industry association.

Tatton Park Show.
The group won a bronze, two silver gilt and three gold medals at the RHS flower show at Tatton Park since 1999.

The group’s ‘Snakes and Ladders’ display was judged to be the best at Tatton Park in 2004 and was nominated to compete with exhibits from the Chelsea, Hampton Court and the two Malvern shows and Gardener’s World Live for the national award at the NEC.

In 2005 the group won its third consecutive gold medal at the RHS flower show for its Jigsaw Puzzle Garden display.

Also in the 2005 show, congratulations to Bury Metropolitan Borough who won a Silver Gilt medal for their display, with plants supplied by Crosbys.

For Bury Council, at the Tatton Park show in July 2007 we supplied the bedding plants for their ‘Just William’ themed display, the author being born in Bury. For this display Bury Council won the Silver Guilt Award.
